JSTOR: Database Guide to Using JSTOR: Introduction

Database guide covering how to search for content in JSTOR.

Introduction

JSTOR supports full-text keyword searching across all of the content on the database. JSTOR generally includes all the content from articles, books, and pamphlets, cover to cover. This makes it possible to search front matter and back matter, letters to the editor, advertisements, and other types of material along with scholarly articles and book chapters. The default setting for search results is to show matches for only content licensed or purchased by the library, but a researcher may choose to change this setting for their own session.

There are two search forms on JSTOR, a Basic Search and an Advanced Search. This guide will cover each of these forms, as well as how to understand search results.

McKee Library subscribes to Arts and Sciences I. This collection includes core journals in economics, history, political science, and sociology, as well as in other key fields in the humanities and social sciences. This collection also contains titles in ecology, mathematics, and statistics. Provides over 1,500 academic journals and articles.

You can access JSTOR on the multidisciplinary tab of McKee Library's research guides or on the library's A to Z database list.
