Celebration of Education

by Jessica Spears on 2022-11-14T06:00:00-05:00 in Education | 0 Comments

American Education Week is celebrated from November 14 - 18, 2022.  According to the National Education Association (NEA), "American Education Week...presents all Americans with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education." Dating back to the first event in 1921, American Education Week was intended to create awareness and increase funding for American schools.

This event is more relevant today, as the United States is facing a growing teacher crises. A recent report from Forbes found that "48% of teachers admitted that they had considered quitting within the last 30 days." Brookings Institute cites the teacher shortage as a critical problem, stating "When schools can’t hire qualified teachers for vacant positions, they may increase class sizes, cancel course offerings, or hire uncertified individuals to fill positions."

We invite you to learn more about education in America through the following resources.
