With the recent move to an online-only format for the campus delivery of education and instruction, the library building will be closed. Here are the many ways we can support faculty, staff, and students during this time:

Embedded Librarian Service:

The embedded librarians will remain active on eClass. If you currently do not have an embedded librarian in your research-focused course and would like one, please email Jessica Spears at jspears@southern.edu.  For more information about the Embedded Librarian Service, go here.

Online appointments:

Anyone is able to make an online appointment with a librarian.  To do so, please go here.

E-books (including textbooks):

Our e-book collections can be found here.    Faculty Select and R2 Digital have several textbooks in electronic format.

You can also search our catalog for e-books by taking the following steps:

  • Type your subject term into the library search box on the home page. Keep the drop down at All Resources and click on the magnifying glass.
  • On the results page, filter your results on the left under the SUBJECT section by choosing Electronic Books. You might have to click on Show More to see this option.

Streaming Media:

Our streaming media collections can be found here.

Traditional Media:

If you need a media title not available via streaming, email Stan Cottrell at scottrell@southern.edu and he will work with you.

Journals and Magazines:

Newspapers:

Newspapers are available online via the Gale ONEFILE news database. You must be logged in to your SAU account to use any of our databases.

Chat:

The librarians will be available on our chat service. The Writing Center and Tutoring Center will also be available on chat to answer general questions.

Interlibrary Loan:

Interlibrary Loan  will remain available for articles only.  If you have any issues, please contact Donald Martin atdvmartin@southern.edu.

Campus Research Day:

Campus Research Day 2020 is cancelled.

Writing Center:
