An art exhibit featuring the works of Mitch Menzmer will be on display at McKee Library August 16 through October 15, 2018 on the library's first floor.

Mitch has had an avidity for art in various forms since childhood and has had some art classes in elementary and high school and a college course in watercolor.   In college he received some coaching in photography from Farrel Brizendine while a student at PUC.  Although he finds it challenging to carve out time to do a significant amount of art and photography at this point in life, Mitch is working on setting up a studio at home, and is hoping to be able to devote more time to art and photography in the future.  “I was inspired a couple of years ago to ‘take up the brush’ as it were after studying some of the artwork on the walls in my church.  As I looked at the works from a distance, and then up close, I remember remarking to myself with a smile ‘It’s all trickery!’ – that was an epiphany for me.  It somehow made doing art seem more accessible.  Also, I simply love the experience of feeling the paint go on the canvas.”  Mitch takes a reductionist approach to a subject initially, then add details as a means of catching the eye and convincing the viewer.
