Fiber art created by Madeline Mace, a Southern Adventist University Student, is on exhibit May 3 through August 10, 2018 on the library's second floor.

Originally from Loma Linda California, Madeline is currently enrolled at Southern Adventist University as a Fine Art Major. Her inspiration over the last four years has been drawn from nostalgia, memory, and the process of human emotion. Her earlier works are mainly composed of color pencil, but for the last year has been focusing on blind contour and embroidery. Madeline seeks to have open dialogue about issues concerning the human condition and how they relate to personal experience--her faith and beliefs provide an open door to these conversations and as well as portraying a more authentic Christian image. Her artworks consist of an exploration of single-line blind contour drawings of human faces. She enjoys tedious tasks that require physical and mental endurance such as small even stitches on various materials such as canvas. Because her works are strenuous in nature, they have helped Madeline acquire a physical and mental discipline that would help with spiritual meditation within repetitious action.

All pieces are available for purchase.
