Research & Writing Center
The Research & Writing Center at Souther Adventist University
The Research & Writing Center is your writing resource at SAU. We offer one-to-one, individualized writing tutorial sessions. Our peer writing consultants are dedicated, experienced student writers who are trained in the research and writing process and who excel at working with others in a professional academic environment. Wherever you are in the writing process, regardless of the course or discipline, we can help.
What happens in a Research & Writing Center Session?
Each session with a writing consultant lasts 30 minutes, or if you need more time with the consultant, up to 1 hour. You and the writing consultant will read and discuss the piece of writing you are working on. By the time you leave the Research & Writing Center you should have a clearer sense of where you want to go next and some strategies to help you get there. Our writing consultants are happy to work with you on
· brainstorming at the start of an assignment
· clarifying your paper’s organization and flow
· developing and sustaining an argument
· incorporating research and sources effectively
· citing sources accurately in MLA, APA, or Chicago style
· editing a paper
· any writing you are working on
What should I bring to the Research & Writing Center?
· The assignment sheet for the piece of writing that you are working on
· A hard copy of the piece of writing you are working on
